How I Scored 90 in PTE | PTE Course Strategies
After the recent changes in the PTE exam from 7th August 2025, many test-takers are confused. Some believe it’s impossible to score a perfect 90 anymore. But I’m here to tell you that it’s still possible – and I’ve done it myself!
This was my 15th time scoring 90 in PTE, and in this blog, I’m sharing proven
tips, strategies, and templates that worked for me. If you follow these steps,
you can boost your chances of achieving your desired score as well.
✅ Speaking Module – Key Strategies
The first module is Speaking, where clarity, fluency, and
content matter more than speed.
Read Aloud
- Focus on speaking clearly and at a moderate pace.
- Don’t rush or speak too slow.
- Use slight pauses at punctuation marks.
Repeat Sentence
- Understand the meaning before repeating.
- Speak confidently, even if you don't remember the
entire sentence.
Describe Image
- Use templates but include relevant details.
- Explain the title, axes, and two or three main points
from the image within 35 seconds.
Retell Lecture
- Note keywords from the audio and speak them naturally.
- Avoid repeating phrases; use varied sentences.
Answer Short Questions
- If unsure, speak keywords from the question itself.
Summarize Spoken Text & Respond to Situation
- Follow templates but focus on meaningful content.
- Stick to suggested times: 90 seconds for summarizing
and 30 seconds for responding.
✅ Writing Module – Templates That Work
Summarize Written Text
- Select three sentences with keywords.
- Join them using connectors like and, furthermore, but.
- Change at least two to three words to make it unique.
Essay Writing
- Address the essay topic thoroughly.
- Avoid overusing templates, especially in the
introduction.
- Aim for 240–280 words if possible.
Writing is one of the most crucial
sections in this PTE Course, and
using the right techniques can save you valuable points. Carefully addressing
the essay topic and adjusting templates will make all the difference.
✅ Reading Module – Time Management Tips
You’ll face around 15–16 questions
in 23 minutes. Manage your time wisely:
- Reading & Fill-in-the-Blanks – 2 minutes max per question.
- Multiple Choice Questions – 30 seconds each.
- Reorder Paragraphs
– 1–1.5 minutes.
- Drop-Down & Drag-and-Drop – 1.5–2 minutes.
If you manage time properly, reading
won't feel as hard as before.
✅ Listening Module – How to Score Well
Summarize Spoken Text
- Use templates but include meaningful content.
Multiple Choice Questions & Fill-in-the-Blanks
- Spend 10–25 seconds after the audio.
Highlight Incorrect Words
- Use available time efficiently.
Right from Dictation
- You can safely add extra words if unsure of spelling or
grammar – it won’t hurt your score!

✅ Final Thoughts – The Crux of Success
After the changes, blindly following
templates won’t work. Here’s what you need to remember:
- Address the topic properly, especially in essays and
written summaries.
- Change words in templates to make content unique.
- Add relevant content in speaking tasks.
- Manage your time wisely in reading and listening.
- Focus on clarity, fluency, and content—not speed.
If I’ve done this 15 times, you
definitely can too!
